Job Summary

Marten River Lodge is a premier Fishing & Hunting Lodge in the Temagami region of Northeastern Ontario and has been providing outstanding wilderness experiences for sportsmen, outdoor enthusiasts and their families for 84 years. With a focus on exceptional customer service, we continue to grow and expand our service offerings and continually strive to improve our guests’ experience to build life-time memories.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, like-minded team member for the position of Associate Guide & Handyman for our 2018 season between May and October. Terms of engagement will depend on the qualifications and suitability of the selected applicant. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate multiple skills, previous fishing and hunting guiding experience as well as tourism/hospitality experience. A positive, can-do attitude and superior customer service skills are essential.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Previous guiding experience (fishing/hunting) and demonstrated success
  • Previous tourism/hospitality experience
  • Basic handyman skills (minor carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to operate boats, trailers, ATV’s
  • Proficiency in using Fish Finders, GPS, Navionics, Trail Cameras
  • Outgoing personality and strong interpersonal skills
  • Professional demeanor and appearance
  • Commitment to personal and team success
  • Problem solving skills
  • Strong references

A passion for the outdoors and for informing, educating and entertaining both novice and experienced guests is paramount for this position. Applicants must have a valid G driver’s license with clean driving record (no DUI); Ontario Boater’s Card, reliable transportation, fishing and hunting licenses, quality fishing equipment and outdoor attire, and must be in good physical condition. Certifications for WHIMIS, Chain Saw Operation, Outdoor Survival, First Aid and other relevant training would be beneficial. A reliable 4-door truck in good repair and presentable condition and an ATV would be considered assets for this position, but are not mandatory.
